Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching and learning
  • The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, online learning, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and studio sessions.
  • Initiation and development of subject material
Development and supervision
  • The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.
  • Supervision of the program of study of honours students or of postgraduate students, engage in course work.
Research
  • Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.
  • The conduct of research.
  • Involvement in professional activity.
Development of course materials
  • Development of course material with appropriate advice from and support of more senior employees.
  • Marking and assessments.
  • Consultation with students.


Minimum requirements

  • MCom in Economic is essential.
  • Two-Three (2-3) years relevant experience in particular subject group.
  • One-Two (1-2) Years’ Experience in teaching and learning environment. 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel and Power point), email and internet.
  • Required knowledge of quantitative risk analysis.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate assessment theory and practice to enhance student performance.
  • A proven commitment to teaching and learning, including a willingness to become involved in student’s educational environment and wellbeing.
  • Knowledge of modern platforms (eg. Whiteboard technology, online learning, eFundi, etc) to enhance the ongoing changing of the learning and collaboration environment.
  • Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various functionally multilingual environment of the NWU

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
