NORTH-WEST UNIVERSITY MAFIKENG FACULTY/ DIVISION: HUMANITIES SCHOOL: LANGUAGES 8247 POSITION NAME: DATA CAPTURER POSITION NUMBER: M000705 VACANCY: 1 PEROMNES GRADE: P17 EMPLOYMENT TYPE: PERMANENT PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This is a Setswana National Lexicography Unit (SEFALA) Board of Directors in collaboration with North West University. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of Data capturing services. The incumbent will be expected to do the typing work and other Ad hoc tasks.
Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Combine and rearrange data from source documents and transcribe given information into electronic formats.
  • Check all completed work for accuracy and change any field that requires editing.
  • Delete incorrectly posted or obsolete data and re-enter the correct information.
  • Prepare source documents by compiling and sorting information according to specific instructions provided.
  • Punch information into predesignated databases or systems and double-check the information to make sure it has been accurately punched in.
  • Verify the accuracy of data from designated sources before entering it into the system.
  • Locate and correct any visible data errors by confirming its integrity with supervisors.
  • Adherence to HR, finance, administration and procurement policies and procedures.

Data Entry:
  • Enter information from documents to be stored and transmitted.
  • Consistently check work for accuracy and completeness
  • Complete forms and edits current information
  • Reads the information and keys the data into the necessary fields.
  • Compare the entered information with the source to identify errors and correct.

Administrative:
  • Ensure effective flow of information and documents to and from the office of the manager and manage the leave register and telephone accounts for the unit.

Operating equipment:
  • Knowledge of specific computer software and programs for data entry tasks.
  • Keys information directly into the computer and can also be required to scan documents and fill in any missing information.
  • Enters data onto storage devices for later entry
  • Responsible for loading compliance machines with the required materials including paper, disks, tape, cards, etc.

HR, Finance and Procurement:
  • Source Quotations, process invoices and effect payments of invoices

Minimum requirements

A senior Certificate/ Grade 12 or Equivalent qualification and 1 year relevant experience in Data Capturing is essential.

Functional experience:
  • 1-2 years experinece in the abililty to demonstrate knowledge of data capturing services, Directely and independentely is essential.

  • Demonstrative computer literacy.
  • Basic financial administration.
  • Knowledge of Lexicographic matters.
  • Language skills including spelling rules.
  • Knowledge of Setswana and English.
  • Relevant legislation.

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
