PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To assist NWU departments (Faculties, Service Departments and Marketing and Student Recruitment) with updating of their website content and to maintain the NWU electronic calendar.

JOB DESCRIPTION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Studies related content
- Establish a working relationship with the Student Life and Student Recruitment colleagues.
- Take care of residences sites (all three campuses) in collaboration with SCC and HC members.
Content development and support
- Create, source, publish and maintain content (including graphics in some cases) as needed. This may include assistance to schools and departments with their content, fixing of errors, creation of staff profiles etc.
Events assistance
- Assistance may include (but is not limited to) creation of calendar events pages, event information pages (such as pages on Faculty based sites), or coverage of events for news room if needed by Communication Manager.
Minimum requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma/Degree (NQF 7) in journalism, copy writing, corporate communication or similar.
- Experience in web content development.
- Three (3) years’ experience in publication (digital and e-media) is essential.
- Three (3) years’ experience in communication, written and spoken word is essential.
- Two (2) years’ experience in content development using the Drupal 8 Platform desirable.
- Two (2) years working knowledge of the internet, including HTML and information architecture is essential.
- Two (2) experiencing in networking and liaising is essential.
- Two (2) years’ experience in corporate identity and branding is essential.
- Two (2) years’ experience in higher education environment is desirable.
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Communication and facilitation of communication in e-media
- Project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure
- Data interpretation skills and research (user statistics)
- Proficiency in the Drupal 8 content management system
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office suite, Internet, email)
- Web content and information management
- Understanding of the technical aspects of website development.

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
