Job description

  • Facilitate teaching and learning in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the Faculty;
  • Provide research study supervision in the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the Faculty;
  • Conduct research in the of the Research Unit and publish in accredited journals and other academically recognised platforms;
  • Initiate and/or actively participate in community engagement projects and
  • Participate as academic faculty member in all faculty activities.

Minimum requirements

  • LLB and registered for LLM plus at least 2 years’ experience in academia OR
  • LLB and LLM plus 1-2 years’ experience in academia OR
  • LLB and admitted as attorney or advocate (after completion of pupilage) plus 1-2 years’ post admission practical legal experience OR
  • LLB and 3-5 years’ practical experience as public prosecutor, legal adviser or in another appropriate legal professional capacity.
 
ADDED ADVANTAGE & PREFERENCES:
  • Candidates with some specialization and interest in Fundamental Modules (Introduction to Law, History of Law and/or Jurisprudence) will be preferred. However, all applications will be considered.
 
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Well-developed information technology skills. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in all MS Office applications (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint), e-mail and internet applications, online learning platforms and communication technology.
  • Well-developed professional legal communication skills.
 
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Enthusiasm to work with young adults and assist their academic and personal development.
  • Commitment to knowledge creation.

The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
