Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Supervision of Cleaning Services
·        Ensure that work of cleaning services is completed based on the contractual agreement. 
2.    Maintenance of Equipment and Buildings 
·        Identify defects during inspections.
·        Identify repair work to be done in the residence.
·        Follow up on IWMS work orders (service billings) not concluded or poor quality of work.
·        Identify and handle breakage.
·        Update maintenance rosters e.g., distribution boards, alarms, roofs and gutters, taps, decalcification, cleaning of water tanks.
·        Submit terrain reports.
3.    Residence Operations
·        Ensure general tidiness and hygiene of the residence.
·        Ensure sufficient knowledge of rules, policy and procedures of RCS.
·        Complete admin duties e.g., corridor lists, cancellations, room inventory forms, etc.
·        Manage annual stock taking.
·        Manage consumable materials.
·        Ensure improved control of power and water consumption.
·        Monitor breakages.
·        Ensure implementation of decisions taken during meetings and training sessions.
·        Advice House Committee members and communicate duties to them in writing.
·        Finalise room inspections.
·        Submit safety reports, risks, and hazards. 
4.    Assistance and Availability to Supervisors and Students
·        Ensure availability to students in case of operational challenges of the residence.
·        Ensure availability for informal inspections.
·        Attend residence management meetings.
·        Attend development programmes as required.
·        Manage holiday accommodation guests.
       
The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
·        Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
·        Two (2) years’ experience in managing staff/contractors and/or maintenance of equipment and buildings.
 
KEY FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
·        Good computer skills in MS Excel, Word, use of e-mails and internet.
·        Good organisation and administrative skills.
·        Experience in the operation of a residence or similar environment.
 
KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:
·        Good communication (verbal & written) skills in Afrikaans and English.
·        Good interpersonal skills.
·        Ability to delegate tasks.
·        Ability to maintain discipline in the residence.
·        Moderate temper.
